Buck Brass Quartet
Dear Leatherhead Friends,
Buck Brass are delighted to present an online musical offering with a programme including a selection of pieces for Brass Trio and Quartet.
Some of the pieces appearing in the concert are items featured regularly in the ensemble’s programme. However, we are excited to include two new pieces in today’s programme with a selection of hauntingly beautiful songs by the Swedish composer, Wilhelm Peterson-Berger, kindly transcribed for Buck Brass by Ashley Harper, and a reflective original piece of music for Brass Quartet by Alexander Glazunov.
Life changed overnight for members of the ensemble when many concerts had to be cancelled and teaching transferred online. Nonetheless members of the ensemble have been involved in a variety of interesting projects over the past year. Timothy has been teaching online with the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music and he has also played in a number of sessions with the London Sinfonietta.
Frances has been kept busy with her online teaching and also with her educational ensemble ‘Hold the Drama’ in delivering online musical workshops for schoolchildren across the country. Richard was involved with volunteering at a pop-up lunch kitchen for the homeless in Trafalgar Square and Katie has been rehearsing and performing with the Southbank Sinfonia.
Buck Brass are extremely grateful to Peter Steadman and the Trustees of the Leatherhead Concert and Arts Society for asking us to deliver an online concert and we hope we will be able to see you live in person soon.
Best wishes,
Richard
